MOSCOW, January 5th, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent Natalia Gorbunova) - The first part of the heating season in Russia was all right, Russian Vice Premier Vladimir Yakovlev reported to the Russian president during a traditional conference between the head of state and the cabinet.

"How do you assess the [heating] situation? It is now cold in Moscow," the president asked the vice premier.

"The first part (of the heating season) was not bad," Yakovlev answered.

At the same time, he added, some regions saw heating disruptions, in particular Yakutsk, some Kamchatka and Sakhalin (Far East) settlements. But on the whole, the situation is normal, said the vice premier.

Yakovlev continued that a commission was going to meet in February to consider preparations for the next winter.
