INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLCHILDREN CONTEST OPENS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, January 5th, 2003 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - The first tour of the international open contest between schoolchildren in the Russian language will open today, January 5th, in Moscow's palace of children's (youth) art, palace spokesmen reported.

About 7,000 Russian-speaking schoolchildren in the 5-11 forms from 17 CIS and Baltic nations have agreed to participate in the contest.

Forty-five winners of the correspondence tournament the tasks for which were published in the Svetozar interactive science fiction magazine now have the opportunity to come to Moscow for the open tournament with a parent.
