While in Spain, Mr Stepashin, who is also President of the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (EUROSAI), will meet in talks with Nieto de Alba, President of the Spanish Court of Audit and EUROSAI Secretary General.
They will discuss EUROSAI's participation in activities against money laundering proposed by a working group of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The international audit community established this body in 2003 on the Russian Audit Chamber's initiative.
The conferees will also look into the way the decisions of the 28th meeting of the EUROSAI Governing Board, which took place in Rome last fall, have been implemented, particularly into arrangements for publishing the book "The Status Quo and the Future of Audit in Europe." The book will assess EUROSAI's performance for the 15 years of its existence. This international organization involves the state audit bodies of 45 European countries.
