MOSCOW, January 3rd, 2004 (RIA Novosti correspondent) - There were no Russian citizens onboard the plane which crashed Saturday morning into the Red Sea, a spokesman for the Russian embassy in Cairo told RIA Novosti.

"We are keeping in contact with the French embassy," said the Russian diplomat.

In his words, the Boeing-737 crashed a few minutes after the takeoff at Sharm-el-Sheikh airport.

"There is no information confirming that this was a terrorist act, at least now that the initial investigation is being carried out," said the spokesman.
