YEKATERINBURG, September 17 (RIA Novosti) – Prosecutors in Russia’s Urals region on Tuesday called for enforcement officers to be punished after they sealed an apartment with a woman inside.
“In August, a court marshal enforced a court’s ruling over eviction of a plaintiff from a disputed apartment. As a result of the improper fulfillment of their duties, the apartment was sealed with a woman inside it,” the Chelyabinsk Region prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.
Russian newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta reported that the bailiff arrived with the woman's ex-husband, who was planning to change locks, but in an apparent mix-up the door was blocked and the woman found herself trapped in the apartment.
Her repeated calls to the police for help went unanswered, the statement said.
The prosecutors have contacted a local court and urged that the officials involved are responsible for the incident.
It was not immediately clear how long the woman was locked in the apartment.
