MOSCOW, September 14 (R-Sport) - The Czech Republic moved one step close to retaining the Davis Cup on Saturday after defeating Argentina in the semifinals.

Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek gave the Czechs an unassailable 3-0 lead by winning their doubles match with Carlos Berlocq and Horacio Zeballos 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in Prague.

“It feels great. This competition means a lot to us and as long as we can keep our winning streak, it’s great,” Stepanek said on the competition website. “It’s an honor to play in front of a home crowd. They follow us around the world no matter where we play."

On Friday, Berdych beat Leonardo Mayer and Stepanek defeated Juan Monaco in the singles.

In the final, the Czechs will meet either Serbia or Canada. The Canadians lead the semifinal in Belgrade 2-1 ahead of Sunday's singles, after the doubles pair of Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil won 6-7(6), 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5), 10-8 on Saturday against Serbia's Nenad Zimonjic and Ilija Bozoljac.

The last team to retain the Davis Cup was Spain in 2009.
