MOSCOW, July 30 (RIA Novosti) - A man who used to work with the police to prevent juvenile delinquency in northwestern Russia faces trial for spreading pornography and drinking with a minor, the Investigative Committee said Tuesday.

In August 2012 the officer posted “a video file featuring signs of pornographic images of minors,” on his page in a Russian social networking site, the Investigative Committee’s statement said.

Investigators say the youth officer befriended a 14-year-old boy over the Internet and invited him to his apartment several times where they drank alcohol.

The man has been charged with several offenses, including the production and circulation of pornographic materials showing underage children, encouraging a minor to drink alcohol and providing alcohol to a minor.

If convicted he faces a lengthy prison term.
