MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Police in southern Russia are investigating a fatal hit-and-run case involving a regional politician, the Investigative Committee said on Monday
Yelisei Bryantsev, 25, an Astrakhan city district deputy, is suspected of running over and killing a man and then removing his body from the site of the collision in his car.
Bryantsev was detained by traffic police soon after he fled the scene on Friday.
An investigation has been launched into the incident. The deputy faces up to five years in prison if convicted of causing accidental death by reckless driving.
