Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov is happy about Turkmenistan making it into the top 20 of the world's happiest countries, local media said on Saturday.
Turkmenistan ranks No. 18 of 155 countries across the world in terms of happiness, according to the latest Gallup World Wellbeing Poll.
"We are happy about the fact that we rank 18 according to the world [happiness] ranking, which in itself is an indicator of high living standards in our country," Berdymukhamedov said.
According to the Gallup researchers, who surveyed thousands of respondents between 2005 and 2009, the happiest country in the world is Denmark, while the Togolese Republic in West Africa is the least happy. Russia, as well as Ukraine, ranks No. 73.
