WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Fleet Cyber Command, also known as the 10th Fleet, has certified its Cyber Mission Force teams as ready to defend Department of Defense communications networks and support offensive operations.
"US Fleet Cyber Command/US 10th Fleet announced today that all of the Navy’s Cyber Mission Force teams achieved full operational capability (FOC) in early Oct., almost a full year ahead of schedule," a release issued by the Navy stated.
The Navy pointed out that the focus of the Cyber Mission Force teams aligns with the three primary missions of the Defense Department’s cyber strategy. The cyber strategy’s three primary missions include defending Pentagon networks, supporting joint military commanders’ objectives and, when directed, defending US critical infrastructure.
The 10th Fleet was established on January 29, 2010, and consists of 16,000 active and reserve sailors and civilians organized into 25 active commands and 32 reserve commands around the globe.
