US Air Force Pays Nearly $70Mln for Language, Intelligence Support Services

The Department of Defense said that the US Air Force is paying a contractor almost $70 million to provide intelligence analysis and language translation services for six of its intelligence and cyber-warfare wings.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Air Force is paying a contractor almost $70 million to provide intelligence analysis and language translation services for six of its intelligence and cyber-warfare wings, the Department of Defense said in a press release.

"Kapsuun Group [of] Lorton, Virginia has been awarded a $69,992,808… contract for linguist and analyst support services," the release stated on Thursday.

Under the contract, Kapsuun will provide linguist and analyst support services for the 25th Air Force’s 55th Wing, 70th and 480th Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) Wings, the 361st ISR Group and the 24th Air Force’s 67th and 688th Cyberspace Wings, the release said.

The company’s experts will support US Air Force operations "by providing near real-time intelligence and cyberspace intelligence to national decision makers, theater and combatant commanders with 1N3 ground linguists and 1A8 airborne linguists," the Defense Department said.

Work on the contract will be performed at 15 bases across the United States, in the United Kingdom, Alaska and Japan including Fort Meade in Maryland, where the National Security Agency and at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska which has the headquarters of US STRATCOM, Strategic Command.
