The Army-2017 international military and technical forum will feature exhibitions of weapons formerly used by international terrorist organizations.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Army-2017 international military and technical forum, which for the first time will be held not only in Moscow but also at a Russian airbase in Syria, will feature exhibitions of weapons formerly used by international terrorist organizations and the munitions used to fight against them, the chief of the Russian Defense Ministry's directorate of science and research said Thursday.

"The main peculiarities of the upcoming forum include exhibitions of trophy weapons used by international terrorist organizations as well as examples of Russian weapons used to fight them, set up in the Patriot Park [in Moscow] and the Hmeimim airfield in the Syrian Arab Republic," Alexander Mironov said.

Other events planned for the forum include a teleconference on operations of the Russian Armed Forces between linking Patriot Park and the Hmeymim base.

The forum will include pavilions and open-air spots spanning almost 2.7 million square feet.

Special events demonstrating the most advanced military equipment and special weaponry will take place in various Russian military districts. The Northern Fleet will also participate.

According to Mironov, 12 scientific teams will present 42 innovative projects.
