MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The contest consists of five stages: a military sports contest "Athlete," a professional contest, a firing training contest "Sniper," a literature and dance contest "Knight/Lady" and a military historical contest called "Erudite."
"The winners at every stage and in the contest in general are determined in two categories: among male and female service members… Every team should include five members: four servicemen under contract, including one female service member a team leader," the ministry said.
International Army Games contests have been held annually at the initiative of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu since 2015. The second games were held on territories of Russia and Kazakhstan from July 30 to August 13, 2016. Over 3,500 service members from 19 countries of Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa took part in last year's exercises.
The competition program for this year's event includes 28 contests, such as Masters of Artillery Fire, Masters of Armored Vehicles, Army Scout Masters and Military Medical Relay Race.
