The Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) hopes that Brazil will decide to buy anti-aircraft missile and gun systems Pantsir-S1 (NATO reporting name SA-22 Greyhound), FSMTC press service said in a statement on Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The negotiations on Brazil’s possible purchase of the Panzir-S1 systems have been held for several years.

"Together with Rosobornexport [Russia's state arms exporter] we are consistently working with Brazilian partners on this project. Hopefully, the decision on buying these really unique complexes essential for Brazil will be made," the statement said.

The deal initially was planned to be reached before 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil to ensure the country’s security.
