Russian President Vladimir Putin signed off on a decree on establishment of the combined task force of Russia and Armenia, according to a decree published on the official portal for legal information on Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The task force will be deployed in case of the aggression or a threat of aggression against Russia and Armenia, but is not directed against any third countries.

“To accept the proposal of the Government of the Russian Federation on signing the agreement between the Russian Federation and Armenia in regards to establishment of combined task force of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation,” the decree reads.

The Russian Defense and Foreign Ministries are authorized to hold talks with the Armenian side and to sign the agreement after reaching the deal.

Previously, Russia and Armenia signed the agreement that established regional Unified Air Defense System as part of Joint Commonwealth of Independent States Air Defense System in December 2015.
