Russian Troops Hold Chemical Emergency Drills at Armenia’s Airfield

Russian troops held drills on liquidation of epicenter of chemical contamination at the Erebuni airfield in Armenia, the Russian Southern Military District’s press service said on Monday.

YEREVAN (Sputnik) – More than 200 soldiers, about 50 vehicles, MiG-29 fighters as well as Mi-24P and Mi-8MT helicopters took part in the drills. Russian students, families of soldiers, veterans as well as diplomatic and administrative employees were invited to see the event.

"During the drills specialists in the sphere of radiological, chemical and biological defense carried out land and aerial reconnaissance operations using the latest chemical reconnaissance vehicle RHM-6," the Southern Military District’s press service told RIA Novosti.

The troops also trained decontamination of vehicles, equipment and aircraft.

The drills ended with performance of radiological, chemical and biological units as well as demonstration of the Russian infantry combat system Ratnik, advanced vehicles and equipment.
