Daesh Coordinated Activity of Terror Suspects Detained by FSB From Syria

The activity of terrorist suspects detained by the Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) on suspicion of planning attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg, was coordinated by the Daesh jihadists from Syria, the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan said Monday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On November 12, the FSB said that ten members of a terrorist group suspected of planning a series of high-profile terror attacks in Moscow and St. Petersburg had been detained with the help of the Russian Interior Ministry and foreign colleagues from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. According to the FSB, the detainees belonged to an interregional terrorist group, composed of people from Central Asia.

"The activity of this terrorist group was coordinated by IS [Daesh] militants from the Syrian territory. Their goal was to carry out large-scale terrorist attacks in Russia and Central Asian countries," the Committee said in a statement.

According to the statement, this group includes several nationals of Central Asian republics, who had undergone training in Daesh camps in Syria.

At the same time, it was not reported, whether Kyrgyz nationals were among the detainees.

The detainees have already given testimony on the ties to the Daesh terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia, and their intentions to carry out terrorist attacks.
