MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "When these ships are near our waters we will man-mark them every step of the way," the spokesman was quoted as saying by Sky News on Wednesday.

He added that the procedure was part of the "steadfast commitment to keep Britain safe."

The Russian task group, which includes the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, will pass near the British shores on its way to Syria through the Mediterranean.

The UK monitoring ships will reportedly include warship HMS Duncan, with the practice being a regular task for the navy.
