SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — Russia's United Instrument Manufacturing Corporation will set up a testing ground on the Crimean Peninsula to carry out tests that could help refine new defense technologies, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Friday.
"An instruction will be given, with the consent of the Federal Border Guard Service of Russia, to test, apply and put into operation at the border the latest security technologies, multiple sorts of optical technologies, means of detection of illegal border crossings of the state border, which have not yet been put into serial production," Rogozin told reporters.
According to the deputy prime minister, corresponding instructions will be given to the enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex, as well as to the Foundation for Advanced Research Projects in the Defense Industry, an agency informing the country’s leadership on projects that can ensure Russia's advance in defense technologies.
