WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Procurement work will be completed throughout the United States and is expected to be concluded by September 2020.
"[Northrop Grumman] is being awarded a $375,582,523 four-year, fixed-price-incentive contract for the procurement of nine Ground/Air Task-Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) low-rate initial production systems," the contract announcement stated on Wednesday.
Northrop Grumman describes the AN/TPS-80 G/ATOR as a mobile multi-mission radar system with detection and tracking capabilities to enable engagement of a wide range of hostile threats, as well as air traffic control duties.
