The lethal hypersonic nuclear glider that looks to revolutionize defense aviation could travel the distance from Moscow to London within 13 minutes and could penetrate NATOs missile defense system.

After launching initial tests on Russia’s first futuristic glider last year as part of Russia’s Project 4202, the aircraft believed to be the Yu-74 is “ready for action” reports Britain’s Daily Star.

The glider can travel at a speed of Mach 10 (7,680MPH or 12,3560kmh) and will reportedly be fit with RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles although details about the glider’s specifications remain top secret. In April, US military officials confirmed the existence of Russia’s deadly hypersonic glider.

Considered a first in a growing aviation arms race, both the US and China are now hurrying to develop comparable hypersonic gliders equipped with nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles increasing the defense gap between the military superpowers and the rest of the world.

The report on the development of Russia’s hypersonic glider comes at a time when Moscow’s relations with the West approach a historic tipping point driven most recently by accusations that President Vladimir Putin is attempting to intervene in the US political election after Hillary Clinton’s campaign hurled a desperate allegation that the WikiLeaks file dump exposing her own bid, joined by the media and Democratic Party officials, to subvert the 2016 presidential election was all a plot of the Russians.

The splurge of Russophobia appears to have spilled over into defense relations with feverish assaults on Moscow’s strategy in Syria of stabilizing the Assad regime at least as long as necessary to root out Daesh and other jihadist elements in addition to renewed struggle in Crimea after Ukrainian forces were thwarted in a terror plot, an incident that has brought Moscow and Kiev to the brink.

There does appear to be a bit of opportunism in the reporting of Russia’s defense capabilities by Western media outlets with recent leaks claiming that NATO would be outgunned by the Moscow military machine if a conflict were to ensue in a transparent effort to lobby for increased defense appropriations to further subsidize the Western military-industrial complex.

Although the latest report by Britain’s Daily Star may be in line with this vein of exaggerating the threat of Russia, Moscow’s program of hypersonic military capabilities has been an open secret and similar reports about the incredible capabilities of the experimental Yu-74 have been detailed by defense analytics webspite Ostkraft.ru which determined that the aircraft’s outstanding maneuverability and high speeds would render NATO’s missile defense systems and the US THAAD shield useless.

Guru, IF you know so much, then you should know that it wasn't U.S ending Soviet Union. It was Gorbachev. A SOVIET.

And worst. This could come eventually with kinetic micro missiles that will destroy all trying to touch it.
And do even worst. So why try this. Use your CIA name. Or Jew name. Polska? No Ukrainian..I see.

FeEisi, This is a big break through but ICBMs travel at twice the speed. As through history every weapon has been adopted by or counter measures developed the opponent .This would be picked up and if not stoppable for now may cause a launch before it could reach its target resulting in both sides being leveled. If a thadd could hit a ICBM which travel at over 15000mph it would seem something travelling at 7680mph could be hit too.If not would be countered soon. This is a breakthrough weapon but give US twice the response time of ICBMs allowing quick launch response allowing ICBMs to leave before they were hit, bombers would be launched ,and tridents would leave the seas into the heavens with about 5-7 min to target as these are near the target anyways.Neither side would win a nuclear war as this is a breakthrough weapon and yes US has also been working on these too.It is no game changer as they are only half the speed of the ICBM and sub launched missiles that have been around for about 60 years. So even if it were to able to hit a handful or more targets there are enough US weapons around the world to ensure complete destruction of aggressor nation or aggressors nations .They are unrivaled by the bombers of today but are no game changer in starting of or changing the outcome of a nuclear war.As for Canada being hit I'm guessing they have always been a target just on a smaller scale as is Europe and many other nations in an all out war. US is far from a deadman walking as many nations would be hit by weapons and lead or follow the fate of the US in a matter of minutes.

tonyw247, And then the US would just go home with 10,000s murdered and the destruction of many ships?? Rings a bell a not so distant history. As last time that happened it was losing battles for aggressor then the end result were the first and only time nuclear weapons were used in war.I'm guessing with no doubt it would start a nuclear war.History repeats itself and neither side would be a winner in a nuclear war. No offence intended Tony but that's just my opinion.
    • I just watched Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove again. Mind the mine shaft gap - with maybe 15 minutes warning time to take into account for any automated defence mechanism, some accidental nuclear war is even more likely than President Killary on a trigger-happy bombing spree. I don't think that a new nuclear arms race is what the world needs right now. I thought, only the US oligarchy were that insane.

      Nah, too close :-))

Come to think of it, the only options are the North and South Pole, Japan and some Baltic states :-))

Post from FB its a winner for me!

Always found it absurd that the only country to bomb another country with nuclear weapons is put in charge of deciding which other country may have them, kind of like putting Lance Armstrong in charge of who can compete without drug tests.
