Russia Could Deploy Missiles in East in Response to US THAAD in Korea
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The THAAD system is designed to intercept short, medium and intermediate ballistic missiles at the terminal incoming stage.

"The deployment of the THAAD [Terminal High Altitude Area Defense System]… will help protect against Kim Jong Un’s illicit weapons programs," Royce stated. "[It] demonstrates the strong resolve of the United States and South Korea to promote peace, stability, and respect for human rights."

On Friday, the deputy chair of the Russian upper house of Parliament’s Arms Committee said Moscow will consider deploying its own missile units in the area.

The Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the agreement to deploy the THAAD system will have a highly negative impact on global strategic stability.
