WASHINGTON (Sputnik News) — Kenya bears the burden of conflicts in the neighboring countries of Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Consequently, the country is home to more than half-a-million refugees, including from spillover from clan and rebel fighting in Somalia.

The training operation concludes with exercise Linda-Rhino, a Kenya Defense Forces-led personnel recovery exercise, according to the US Air Force.

"[The] aim… is to help these partner nations fight their own transnational threats and strengthen their own armed forces to the point where they are self-sustaining," US Air Force commander in charge Maj. Todd Tyler stated on Wednesday.
