Lockheed Martin Wins $424Mln Contract to Boost Navy's Pilot Survivability

Lockheed Martin was awarded nearly half a billion dollar contract to provide tactical training products including radar simulators for the US Navy's pilot survivability program.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Navy has provided the contract to conduct pilot survivability training at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Lockheed Martin announced in a press release.

"Lockheed Martin has been awarded a five-year… contract with a ceiling value of $424 million by the US Naval Air Warfare Center — Weapons Division (NAWC-WD) to support the Aircrew Electronic Warfare Tactical Training Range (AEWTTR) program," the release said on Wednesday.

The center is based in Ridgecrest in the US state of California, the release noted.

"Today’s radar systems are more advanced than ever, but retroactive compatibility with previous technology is critical to our military’s communications and safety," Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Solutions Vice President T.W. Scott said.

Under the contract, Lockheed Martin will provide radar simulators in support of pilot survivability training and repair or replace legacy radar systems with new technology, the release added.
