Warsaw Hosts Anti-Terrorist Drills Ahead of July NATO Summit
10:55 GMT 31.05.2016 (Updated: 10:56 GMT 31.05.2016) Anti-terrorist drills will take place in Warsaw on Tuesday as part of preparations for a NATO summit, expected to be held in the Polish capital in July, local media reported.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the TVN24 broadcaster, the drills will be held at the Warsaw National stadium. The security forces and the country's elite military counter-terrorism unit (GROM) will practice assault, evacuation of high-ranking officials and participants of mass events, landing from a police helicopter, pyrotechnic actions at the place of explosion and transportation of injured people, the broadcaster said with reference to the Interior Ministry.
The drills will be also held in the Warsaw's district of Zoliborz.
The Warsaw NATO Summit 2016 will take place on July 8-9 at the National stadium, which is capable to include 72,000 people. The members of the alliance are set to discuss increasing military activities on NATO's eastern flank among other issues.
According to the Polish Defense Ministry, which will be in charge of the security situation during the event, this summit will be the largest in the history of the alliance with the participation of some 2,000 people from both NATO member states and non-member countries.
