Over 20 warships participated in military drills in the Caspian Sea using the Daesh-crushing Kalibr cruise missiles.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia’s Caspian Flotilla has successfully completed military exercises in which the Kalibr cruise missile system, recently used to fight terrorists in Syria, was used, Russia’s Southern Military District’s press service said Friday.

"The naval forces of the Caspian Flotilla conducted test-tactical exercises at sea, using the Kalibr cruise missile system. A naval strike group fired missiles at naval targets. During the combat training the naval targets were successfully eliminated," the press service said.

The exercises, which ran from April 24 to 28, rounded out the drills in the Caspian Sea, which formed part of the final exercises after the winter training.

More than 20 warships, boats and support vessels, including the frigate Dagestan took part in the military drills.
