Washington has started using "exclusive cyber capabilities" in the anti-Daesh battle, a Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve deputy commander said.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States has started to utilize exclusive cyber capabilities in the ongoing fight against Daesh, Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve deputy commander for operations and intelligence Peter Gersten announced on Tuesday.

“In the very high-end of the spectrum of combat operations you may also be aware that we’ve now begun to use our exclusive cyber capabilities in this fight against Daesh,” Gersten said.

The US-led international coalition of more than 60 members has been carrying out airstrikes against Daesh targets in Iraq and Syria since August and September 2014 respectively.
