Ottawa is closely monitoring the pullout of Russia’s airgroup from Syria to see how Moscow’s withdrawal will be implemented, Canada’s Department of Global Affairs spokesperson Diana Khaddaj told Sputnik.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the withdrawal of the bulk of the Russian military contingent from Syria.

"We are following the situation closely and will have to see how Russia’s intentions unfold," Khaddaj said on Monday.

The Russian Aerospace Forces have been conducting an aerial campaign against terrorist groups in Syria since September 30 at the request of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
