WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The US Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has awarded a $179.8 million contract to defense contractor CACI-Athena for geospatial analysis around the world, the Department of Defense announced.

“CACI-Athena Inc., Arlington, Virginia was awarded a maximum $179,859,000 five-year… contract for Joint Geospatial Analytical Support Services in support of US Special Operations Command,” the announcement stated on Monday.

The majority of the work will be performed in the United States with some work performed overseas, and is expected to be completed by February 28, 2021, the announcement added.

CACI-Athena, Inc. provides specialized services and solutions to the US intelligence community and national security clients, according to a Bloomberg Business report.

The company provides consultation services on homeland security, critical infrastructure security, national security affairs, information operations, force protection, law enforcement affairs, legal support and information technology, according to the report.
