Alejandro Mayorkas will meet with cybersecurity industry representatives to promote cooperation with the private sector.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will deliver keynote remarks on US cybersecurity initiatives at the CyberTech 2016 Conference in Israel, the US Department of Homeland Security announced in a press release on Friday.

"He will meet with a range of cybersecurity industry representatives to promote cooperation and information sharing with the private sector," the release stated.

The January 25-27 visit also includes talks with Israeli counterparts and representatives from the Israeli National Cyber Bureau to discuss continued cooperation between the two allies.

Islamist militant groups such as Daesh have mastered the use of social media to attract recruits from Europe, the United States and throughout the Muslim world.

Mayorkas will also visit Greece on January 27-29 for talks with officials and to view a refugee processing center on Lesbos Island, the release said.
