Pentagon announced that Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems has won a $102.9 million to produce Multiband Terminals to the US Navy.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems has won a $102.9 million to produce Multiband Terminals (NMT) to the US Navy, the Department of Defense announced.

“The NMT is a multiband capable satellite communications terminal that provides both protected and wideband communications,” the announcement stated on Tuesday.

The NMT supports Extremely High Frequency and other advanced communications to and from orbiting satellites as part of the latest update of the US Navy’s global communications and surveillance systems.

”This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to an estimated $466,585,828,” the Defense Department said.

According to the US secretary of the Navy website, NMT will provide deployed Naval Commanders with secure, protected, command, control and communications capabilities and will support the exchange of tactical data, imagery, real-time video, battlefield maps and targeting information.
