Commandos were reportedly using gunship helicopters for transportation. The combined force stormed the court, eliminating an unknown number of Daesh militants along with a field commander while capturing others, Qadir said. In October, a similar operation took place in the neighboring town of Hawija, where around 70 hostages were reportedly rescued by Kurdish and US commandos. The operation claimed the life of an American soldier, which was officially confirmed by the US military.
