MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Chief of Russia's General Staff Valery Gerasimov and Chairman of the United States' Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford held a phone conversation Tuesday, discussing cooperation between Russia and the US-led coalition in Syria, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The sides exchanged views on the situation in Syria and the practical aspects of cooperation between the Russian Aerospace forces and the coalition, led by the United States, in the fight against IS," the ministry's press service said in a statement.
