MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russia has acquired 1,720 drones that the military considers to be irreplaceable in combat, Russian Defense Minister Gen. Sergei Shoigu said Friday.

“The experience in fulfilling military tasks in Syria has shown that [drones] are irreplaceable during combat. If in 2011, the Armed Forces had only 180 [drones], then today we have 1,720 modern drones,” Shoigu said during a Defense Ministry meeting.
