    Iranian Navy to Employ Modern Subs in Upcoming Naval Exercises

    Iran’s navy is set to carry out a specialized exercise in the Sea of Oman next week using a range of underwater craft, including homegrown submarines.

    The maneuver is set to be held on the occasion of Navy Day (November 28), a combination of naval exercises will be held, including various capabilities and tactics, Tasnim News agency reported.

    According to Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, modern underwater craft including the ‘Tareq’ and ‘Ghadir’ submarines will also take part in the upcoming drill.

    Earlier there were plans to conduct a large-scale naval war game, codenamed Velayat 94, in the fourth year of the current Iranian year, which falls between December 22, 2015 and March 20, 2016.

    The Rear Admiral Sayyari also said that the navy would hold a joint drill with the Omani forces this year to exercise rescue and relief operations.
