MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is building military capacity taking into account the current political and military situation around in the world, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Wednesday.
"The main indicators of the plan [activities of the defense ministry] for the current year have been adjusted considering the decisions of the country's leadership to build combat potential of the Armed Forces and the current military, political situation," Shoigu said speaking at the Defense Ministry's meeting.
According to the defense minister, equipment criteria for modern armed forces weaponry was defined in accordance with state defense order-2015 and military infrastructure readiness.
Shoigu said that money was mainly used for primary goals, including Arctic and Kuril Islands infrastructure development, as well as logistical support for Black Sea Fleet and Pacific Fleet submarines.
