KHABAROVSK (Sputnik) — "During the training air combat, the helicopter crews conducted digital launches of guided air to air missiles and performed complex aerobatics such as combat and forced turns and diving with different pitch angles. In addition, the task of avoiding imaginary enemy’s fighters at low and ultra-low heights was performed," Col. Alexander Gordeyev told reporters.
Some 50 experienced crews with the highest qualification participated in the exercises, the spokesman added.
The Russia-made Mi-24, capable of landing and transporting up to eight paratroopers, is currently operated by a the armed services of a number of countries, including Russia, Brazil, Venezuela and Azerbaijan.
The Eastern Military District is one of four operational strategic commands in the Russian Armed Forces.
