US Can Provide Small Arms to ‘Trustworthy Elements’ in Syria - Official
19:20 GMT 30.10.2015 (Updated: 10:34 GMT 06.08.2022) The United States will provide small arms to Syrian opposition fighters amid the deployment of US advisor to the north of the country, a senior US Defense official told reporters on Friday.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The White House confirmed earlier on Friday that the US government would send up to 50 advisors into Syria to advise and assist in the fight against the Islamic State.
"If these [Syrian] forces prove to be trustworthy…I think we are willing to provide the arms that go with that ammunition, small arms. Small arms that we have provided ammunition for," the official said.
