North Korea Unlikely to Launch a Rocket at 70th Anniversary of Ruling Party
TOKYO (Sputnik) — North Korea has displayed modified intercontinental ballistic missiles during a military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party.

South Korean news network YTN reported that KN-08 missiles have a range of up to 10,000 kilometers (6,213 miles).

According to Yonhap news agency, the improved version of the KN-08 missile demonstrated during the parade has a modified warhead.

On Saturday, a military parade took place on the central square of North Korea's capital of Pyongyang.

About 20,000 servicemen participated in the event, making it the largest military parade in North Korea's history, according to the South Korean media.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was personally present at the parade, watching the movement of troops and columns of military vehicles on the square named after his grandfather — the country's first President Kim Il Sung.

Kim Jong Un delivered a speech at the parade, stating that the North Korean army is ready to respond to any kind of war with the United States, Kyodo news agency reported.

The Chinese delegation headed by member of the China Communist Party Politburo Standing Committee, Liu Yunshan, has been watching the parade on the tribune with the North Korean leader.
