The Russian Defense Ministry has denied Western media reports concerning an alleged Russia's “huge military base” under construction on the border with Ukraine, saying that the construction is just a military housing.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On Wednesday, Western media reported that the new Russian base would house 5,000 soldiers and heavy weaponry, including 1,300 armored vehicles and ammunition.

There is no sensation with regard to a new Russian military housing complex in Voronezh region, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said adding that all the documentation on the facility is available via the Internet.

According to Gen.-Maj. Konashenkov, the construction of the military housing was confirmed at the end of 2012.

“There is no sensation concerning the construction of a new military housing complex in Boguchar in the Voronezh region…all of the documentation on the construction of this given facility has been openly accessible on the Internet for more than a month,” Konashenkov said.

The construction of the Boguchar housing complex is expected to be completed by April 29, 2016, according to the relevant tender documents.
