The negotiations between France and potential buyers of the two Mistral-class helicopter carriers that were initially constructed for Russia are being held in "good conditions", French Foreign Minister claimed Tuesday.

PARIS (Sputnik) — Negotiations with the potential buyers of the two Mistral-class helicopter carriers originally built for Russia are being held in good conditions, according to French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius.

"This agreement allows us to become full owners of the ships, which opens for us the possibility of their resale. I cannot talk about the conditions of the negotiations [with potential buyers]… But I can say that we have good conditions," Fabius said during a session of the French parliament.

Egypt, Canada, India and Singapore emerged as potential Mistral buyers after France suspended its delivery of the two ships to Russia late last year, according to Fabius.

Moscow and Paris, which signed the original $1.3-billion agreement in 2011, terminated the delivery contract in early August.
