Iran’s Navy plans to bring a range of new gear into service until March 2017, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari announced.

During a recent visit to Shiraz Electronics Industries plant, Sayyari said the new naval equipment will include missile-launching warships, new destroyers, squadrons of vessels and submarines.

“This major move, which signifies the Islamic Republic of Iran’s self-sufficiency in supplying the naval defense equipment, will certainly once again stun the world,” the commander added as reported by Iranian media.

Recently, Iran has made great progress in its defense sector and has reached self-sufficiency in producing vital military equipment and systems.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, saying that the Islamic Republic’s defense policy is entirely based on deterrence.
