Russia is satisfied with joint military naval and anti-terrorist exercises held with China, Russian Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu said on Sunday after a meeting with Chinese top military official Fan Changlong.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — During the drills, military personnel of both countries demonstrated a high level of practical cooperation, Shoigu said, adding that Russian Defense Ministry stands for further development of cooperation.

"The heads of our states pay increased attention to military-technical cooperation and we intend to expand it consistently. This area of interaction plays an important role in the complex of Sino-Russian relations."

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping reaffirmed the strategic character of Russian-Chinese bilateral relations during the talks on May 8, Shoigu noted.

Changlong arrived in Russia with a delegation headed by the Chinese president to take part in celebrations devoted to 70th anniversary of victory over Nazism in World War II.
