Four British military personnel have been charged with sexual assault in Canada, the Canadian Forces Military Police said in a statement Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to local media, the alleged assault took place at a party at the Canadian Shearwater base in Nova Scotia on April 10. The victim is said to be a local civilian woman in her 20s.

“The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) charged four members of the United Kingdom Naval Service with offences related to sexual assault on April 16, 2015,” the statement reads.

The four servicemen were identified as Craig Stoner, Darren Smalley, Joshua Finbow and Simon Radford.

“This is a disturbing accusation of sexual assault,” Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel Francis Bolduc was quoted as saying in the statement. “I’m pleased with the full cooperation provided by the British authorities to support the hard work and diligence of the CFNIS team in responding to this matter.”
