According to the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defense, US troops will not be permanently stationed in the country. NATO’s Operation Atlantic Resolve works to hold more joint military drills between the United States and its European allies.

There will be no permanent presence of US troops in the Czech Republic under the framework of NATO’s Operation Atlantic Resolve, said an official statement of the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defense.

Instead, Operation Atlantic Resolve will make sure there will be more frequent joint military drills between the United States and its European allies.

Earlier, weekly newspaper Defense News reported that the United States was planning on expanding its military presence in Europe to strengthen NATO positions in the Czech Republic, Hungary and Georgia. However, the Czechs denied this information:

“We are talking about the increase in contribution of US armed forces into NATO’s defense by holding more joint military exercises with its European allies,” said a statement of the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Defense.

President of Czech Republic Milos Zeman said earlier this week that armies of NATO member states regularly participate in military drills on the country’s territory, but neither foreign troops nor military bases are permanently stationed in the Czech Republic.
