Anti-Islamic State Coalition Continues Strikes Against Militants: CENTCOM
In Syria, 12 airstrikes have been carried out near the city of Kobani close to the Turkish border, destroying the militant’s tactical units, a building, and a vehicle, while a mobile oil drilling ring has been destroyed in the city of Al-Hasakah.

In Iraq, airstrikes destroyed the Islamic State’s weapon production facility near the western town of Al Qaim. Five coalition airstrikes hit the Mosul region, destroying a number of IS positions, including two roads. In the city of Tal Afar, a cantonment area, two checkpoints and several vehicles have been destroyed. More of the militants' vehicles and shipping container were targeted near the city of Erbil.

The airstrikes were carried out within 24 hours from January 23 to January 24, CENTCOM informed.

The US-led coalition began launching airstrikes against IS, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), in Iraq in August, expanding the attacks to include the militants' targets in Syria in September. Islamic State fighters have seized vast areas in both countries, imposing strict Sharia law and forcing hundreds of thousands to flee their homes.
