In Iraq, attacks were conducted in the area to the north and west of Baghdad, near cities of Taji, Fallujah and Mosul. Airstrikes destroyed several tactical units, IS buildings, complexes and fighting positions.

According to the press release, the strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Its goal is to eliminate the IS terrorist group, which threatens the region and international community.

Islamic State has been fighting in the region since 2012. Currently a United States–led coalition is carrying out airstrikes against the militants' targets to limit the terrorist group ability to advance further.
