MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Monday that Iran did not need anybody's permission to continue boosting its military capabilities and developing the missile program.

"We have not asked and will not ask a permission from anybody to manufacture various types of missiles, including anti-tank missiles, air-to-air, ground-to-ground or sea-to-sea missiles. We will continue our way [of development] of military force," Rouhani said at a large meeting on the occasion of celebrating the 40th anniversary of victory of the Islamic Revolution at Tehran’s Azadi (Liberty) Square.

The president stressed that 40 years after the revolution the Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to defeat the "conspiracies" targeting the country.

Addressing the issue of US sanctions, Rouhani noted that Iran will withstand the restrictions. The president also said that the country is currently facing "propaganda, psychological and economic war" and expressed confidence that Tehran would solve and overcome the existing problems.

Rouhani's comments come after earlier in February, Iran introduced a new ballistic missile, dubbed Dezful, capable of hitting targets at the range of 1,000 kilometers (about 621 miles).

Annually in early February, the anniversary of the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution is celebrated throughout the country. Celebrations traditionally begin on February 1 and last for 10 days — from the moment the leader of the anti-monarchist movement Imam Ruhollah Khomeini returned from a long-term exile until the formal victory of the revolution on February 11, when the military command declared neutrality.
