At Least 5 People Injured in Motorcycle Bomb Blasts in Syria's Aleppo - Reports

BEIRUT (Sputnik) - As many as five individuals were wounded in two blasts caused by the detonation of explosive devices installed on motorcycles in the Syrian cities of Jarabulus and Al Bab in the Aleppo province, Al Mayadeen TV reported on Thursday.

According to Lebanon's Al Mayadeen TV channel, the first motorcycle bomb exploded near Jarabulus, injuring three people, while another motorcycle with explosives went off in the northern suburb of the city Al Bab, wounding two civilians.

Earlier in the day, the Syrian state news agency SANA has reported an explosion in an area near the Russian Embassy in Damascus.

A car bomb reportedly exploded in the al-Adawi district of Damascus, located close to the Russian Embassy. However, Syrian TV has reported that there were no casualties as a result of the blast, only damage.

According to SANA, it was a "terrorist explosion". But the agency has given no further details.

As an embassy staff member specified to Sputnik, the diplomatic property is working as usual.

"On January 24, at about 2:30 p.m. [12:30 GMT], a car bomb was detonated in Al-Adawi, 300 meters from the Russian Embassy … According to the preliminary data, there have been no casualties. There are no injuries among the staff of the Russian Embassy to Syria," the embassy wrote on Twitter.

The country is still returning to normalcy after years of fighting against numerous militant and terrorist groups, including Daesh. The Russian Embassy in Damascus has experienced a number of mortar attacks since the beginning of Moscow's military campaign in the country, which started in 2015 and finished two years later.
