'Young, Inexperienced': IRGC Slams Macron Over Idea to Review Missile Program

On November 9, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference in Dubai that the Iranian nuclear deal must be preserved, but needed several amendments. In particular, Macron proposed that Iran should engage in talks on its "extremely dangerous" ballistic program, as well as on determination of limitations on the nuclear program.

French President has also pointed out the need to limit "the Iranian hegemony in the region."

The proposal of Macron to amend Iran's missile program can be attributed to his youth and lack of experience, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, the chief commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), said on Thursday.

"We attribute the proposal to discuss Iran's missile capabilities to youth and lack of experience of the French president… He will soon realize that these attempts are futile," the IRGC chief commander was quoted as saying by the IRNA news agency.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi has rejected any possibility of negotiations on the country's ballistic missiles. The diplomat stressed that the country's missile program is designed for its defense and has no relation to a nuclear agreement with the world powers.

In July 2015, the European Union, Iran and the P5+1 group of nations comprising the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany signed the Iran nuclear deal that stipulated a gradual lifting of sanctions imposed on Iran in exchange for guarantees of peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.
